Delores Jean Wilson made her transition Sunday, April 5, 2009. She was born on August 28, 1932 in Little Rock, to the late Mason and Isabella (Coulter) Williams, along with seven siblings. Delores graduated from St. Bartholomew High School and attended Philander Smith College. She later married Cero Spruce Wilson Jr. on January 23, 1958. Delores was a faithful member of The Greater Arch view Baptist Church where she served as president of the Evergreen Circle. As a member of the Evergreen Circle, Delores enthusiastically cared for the elderly. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School where she demanded excellence from her pupils. She was blessed with an abundance of co-workers, associates and friends throughout her lifetime. Because of her devotion to her family, she was invaluable. Her children credit their success to the love of their mother. Delores’ favorite pastime was cooking and baking. She soothed some, excited others and amazed many with her culinary skills. He there it was collard greens, peach cobbler, friendship cakes or pound cakes, she knew exactly what was needed to soothe the soul and tickle the palate. Delores worked for Kellwood Manufacturing Company for 16 years; the Little Rock School District for 2 years and the Veterans Administration Hospital for 18 years were she was an active my member of the American Federation of Government Employees. She retired from the VA in 1998.

ReplyDeleteI was just telling someone yesterday (whose mother recently died) that my mother's last day was 1/14/07. I am still NOT trying to recover from her death.
Instead, I am enjoying each tear and laugh of the memory of the woman who loved me enough raise me. Stay up and pray up!
